ASK Method

The ASK Method

The ASK method of sales training involves – Attitude, Skill and Knowledge. Traditionally most training programs begin with knowledge. Sometimes they might get around to skills training, but rarely do they ever go far enough to deal with the attitudes that prevents people from becoming successful.

There are many factors that go into each of the three dynamics. Training programs must include many of those factors, but without addressing the attitude barriers enduring success will not be achieved. Attitude training must include a level of self-awareness that makes emotional mastery possible.

“Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.” -Proverbs 16:32

Understanding yourself and mastering your emotional responses are the first steps in creating a good attitude. Sales training must include such help or it will fail. I watched the girl scouts in our church selling cookies. To be successful in sales requires more than the girl scouts. You can’t give a sales rep a below average product at an above average price with a bright smile and a good cause and expect the same results.

Success in sales requires the right attitude in addition to skills and knowledge. Self-awareness and emotional mastery are the keys to developing a proper attitude.

Harmony of Mind

Harmony of Mind

Whatever causes disharmony in the mind robs us of power and hinders our advancement. If you would gain control of all your resources and increase your ability, avoid as you would poison everything that tends to make you negative, — worry, anxiety, jealousy, envy, fear, cowardice, the whole family of depressing, despondent thoughts. They are all confessions of weakness, and may be summed up as power destroyers. Every fit of the blues, every unhappy thought, every feeling of discouragement, of despondency, every doubt, every fear, is a crippler of ability.

Our ability is extremely sensitive to our moods, to our mental condition generally. When we don’t feel like it, when we are out of sorts, when for one reason or another we feel blue, discouraged, despondent, full of doubt and anxiety, our ability is very much contracted. On the other hand, when we are in a good state of mind, when our minds are harmonious, not anxious or worried about anything, it is enormously, expanded. That is, all the positive, uplifting, encouraging, cheerful emotions and feelings expand or increase our ability, while all of the negative, depressing, discouraging, gloomy ones contract or lessen it.

After we have done everything in our power to increase our ability by education, by training for our special work, by sharpening and improving our natural gifts and faculties in every possible way, we can yet so contract or expand it by our mental attitude, that it is safe to say nine-tenths of its availability depends upon our state of mind at any given time. We all know how it is enlarged by a sublime self-confidence, an unwavering faith, and how it is contracted by the lack of faith in ourselves, by self-depreciation, by timidity, and lack of courage.

You know how much bigger a person you are, how much more capable of planning and doing things, when your courage is up and you believe in yourself, than when you are blue and discouraged. You know from experience that your consciousness of ability expands so you feel as though you could tackle almost anything. Make this your habitual state of mind and your ability will always be available, always at its maximum.

To Your Success,

Music and Life

Your Life Journey…

I frequently visit the blog by Michelle Shaeffer she brings a wonderful perspective to life and business. She can be found here.  She posted this article this week and I love it. I would highly recommend that you go to the site and read her article “Weekend Inspiration”. She nails this one.

This is an incredible article! I needed to be reminded often that the journey is a huge part of the goal. We all have a tendency to think that arriving is all that there is. She dispels that myth in a hurry in this article.

When she says, “enjoy the process of creating success” that is perfect advice. If we can turn the journey into a success and as Michelle says “celebrate every success” we will be so much more successful! To often we find ourselves focusing to much on what we will become that we forget that the journey to becoming is to be enjoyed.

I love this video it says perfectly what we need to know to enjoy the journey. It is the music of life that makes it worth living. I’m posting it here so you can enjoy and reflect.

Disclaimer: I don't agree with everything Allen Watts puts on youtube.
But this video is a good work.

Your Journey is Everything!

Life is a journey that ends in a destination. God intends for us to enjoy the journey. Enjoy your journey!

Your Brand

Posted by: Eric Mulford | Comments (0)

It is all too easy to get too focused on the “brand”. The brand is what you are. It is the heart of why you do what you do. You can spend a fortune in time and money try to determine the right color for your sign, then discover that most people don’t really even notice.

I search the internet all of the time looking at businesses. So many get caught up in their name, their logo, and their message that you can’t tell who they really are. Just tell me what you’ll do for me! That is my real interest.

We have it backwards. We decide that our image should be __________ then we put systems in place to try to make us ___________. Instead of setting about to discover what our passion really is. Passion sells! Tell me your passion and I decide if you have what I want.

The Air Force had an extensive “Policies Manual” which defined how the Air Force would conduct themselves. No one knew what was in the manual. Then they replaced the manual with three words…integrity, excellence, and service. Now everyone knows it and it is reflected in everything they do.

Branding is discovering your passions and making them public. That is marketing! That should be appealing to every business owner. Marketing should be fun and not work. Discover your passion and marketing will be a pleasure.

Motto

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." -Galatians 6:9-10
